Name: Iris Technologies
In Canada and the United States, there are over three million new concussion cases per year. Iris Technologies is solving computer intolerance in patients who have suffered from a concussion. A severe concussion can reduce an individual’s cognitive ability as well as their sensory capacity to process stimuli. The inability to use such devices can cause frustration and can lead to mental health issues due to reduced ability during the recovery process. Iris Technologies’ E-paper product is a different kind of screen that uses a magnetized polymer to create shapes on the display, as opposed to light modulating liquid crystals of an LCD screen. With the secondary e-paper computer monitor, users aren’t obligated to transfer their documents and files from one device to the other. It also does not trigger symptoms for the user as the screen does not need to be constantly refreshed and is not backlit.
